Preparation of jerking meats is a long honed and long revered Jamaican tradition where meats, seasoned with special wet or dry combinations of seasonings, are set atop pimento or sweet wood planks with coal fire beneath and grilled.
Though originating in Portland, the flavour and even colour of the jerked meats varies across the island. For MVP, in addition to jerked meats, their vision included smoking meats (hence the smokehouse) in an atmosphere that was one with nature. The open air setting of MVP Smokehouse’s grill style restaurant and bar, decorated with natural elements set atop a naturally occurring stream provides this atmosphere.
Their vision for providing great food in a great atmosphere is not the end all as they hope to eventually continue the production of a line of sauces, food preparations and seasonings based on sauces served in house. Indeed, they hope to provide a service to their country through employment and linking with suppliers and living off the land fulfilling both passions as Medina Valley’s Pride!
